Science, Knowledge, and Politics in German History

The Cambridge German History Research Group invites proposals for papers (20-30 minutes) on the history of science, knowledge, and politics with a German implication. Presentations can engage with any period and aspect on the nexus of these three terms. Science in German history is understood in a broad sense. We are interested, for example, in different ways and places of knowing, in science in the emerging public sphere, or in the politics of science and the scientisation of politics. How was knowledge stabilised, how was it experienced, and how was it put to political use? We encourage presenters to reflect on what the study of science and knowledge production can add to German history more generally.

Please send your abstract (max. 300 words), together with a short paragraph summarising your CV, institutional affiliation, and research interests, to germanhistoryworkshop@gmail.com by 10 September 2021.
